Researchers at MIT in the United States have recently discovered ways to obtain a small amount of electricity from condensing water. The general principle of this technique is to allow charged droplets to move between the superhydrophobic metal panel and the hydrophilic metal panel to generate electricity. If applied successfully, this technology is especially suitable for remote areas as well as developing countries. A group of MIT researchers led by Nenad Miljkovic discovered a way to obtain electricity from moist air. Miljkovic and his colleagues discovered last year that water droplets on superhydrophobic surfaces occasionally jump spontaneously, and droplets get a small charge during this process. Using this phenomenon, the researchers used a series of electrically conductive panels to allow the water droplets to alternate between the hydrophobic copper oxide material panel and the hydrophilic copper-washing material panel. The droplets transport the charge obtained to the other panel. Exercise generates electricity. In the initial test, the device produced only 15 picowatts of electricity from a square centimeter of metal plate. The researchers said that it could easily increase the efficiency by 70 times to at least 1 microwatt per square centimeter. At this rate, a cooling box-sized engine using this technology can be filled with a mobile phone within 12 hours. The main factor affecting the operation of the equipment is the temperature difference. Since condensation must be obtained from the air, according to the researchers, any place that can form dew can allow the equipment to generate electricity for at least several hours in the morning. Although the current equipment only has the potential to become power generation, and the amount of power generation is quite moderate.
