Solar "Dragon" spacecraft arrived at the space station

NASA issued a message on the 3rd that the "Dragon" cargo spacecraft of the space exploration technology company had successfully arrived at the International Space Station on that morning.

The Space Agency said that the space station astronauts used the robotic arm to capture the "Dragon" at 5:31 p.m. (18:31 p.m.) and fix it on the "Harmony" node of the space station more than three hours later. The docking door between the spacecraft and the space station will open on the 4th.

The "Dragon" spacecraft was originally planned to dock with the space station on the 2nd, but soon after launching off the 1st, only one group of 4 sets of pod thrusters was in operation. Although the problem was eventually repaired, the spacecraft's solar panels were open about two hours later than the scheduled time, and docking with the space station was postponed.

NASA said that the "Dragon" spacecraft is expected to dock with the space station for 22 days.

This flight was the second time the "Dragon" spacecraft was transported to the space station. During the first shipment in October last year, the "Dragon" spacecraft carrier rocket had an anomaly, causing a test satellite to fail to enter a predetermined orbit and eventually burnt completely in the Earth's atmosphere. In addition, in the test flight last May, the spacecraft sensor failure led to its docking with the space station two hours later.

Space Exploration Technology Corporation and Space Agency signed a contract worth US$1.6 billion and will launch 12 cargo spacecraft to the space station. Another company in the United States, Orbital Science Corporation, plans to launch a commercial spacecraft at the space station early this year. The company has signed a $1.9 billion contract with the Space Agency.
