钐(Sm)

In 1879, Bois Budeley discovered new rare earth elements from the "镨钕" obtained from the antimony ore, and named it according to the name of the ore.

It is light yellow and is the raw material for samarium-cobalt permanent magnets. The samarium-cobalt magnet is the earliest rare earth magnet for industrial applications. Such permanent magnets are of the SmCo5 series and the Sm2Co17 series. In the early 1970s, the SmCo5 system was invented, and the Sm2Co17 system was invented later. Now it is based on the needs of the latter. The purity of cerium oxide used in samarium-cobalt magnets does not need to be too high, and from the viewpoint of cost, about 95% of products are mainly used. In addition, yttrium oxide is also used in ceramic capacitors and catalysts. In addition, niobium also has a nuclear nature, which can be used as a structural material for atomic energy reactors, screen materials and control materials to make nuclear fission generate huge energy for safe use.
