The polymer material PEIE is inexpensive and is an environmentally friendly material. If it is in contact with metals or conductive organic substances, the work function of each substance can be reduced, thereby playing the role of the surface modification material. Indium tin oxide (ITO) has a relatively high work function of 4.8 eV and is therefore mainly used as an anode material. After coating with PEIE (surface modifier), the work function is reduced to 3.08 eV and becomes a cathode use. The transformed structure allows the stability of the components to be improved.

After the injection layer and the transport layer are formed, the polymer material PEIE only functions as an injection layer and blocks the externally injected holes, and then the electron-transporting transport layer will fail. In order to solve this problem, the research team at PEIE The surface was coated with zinc oxide nanoparticles and acted as an electron transport layer. Through this design concept, quantum dot LED displays were finally successfully developed. Dr. Huang commented: “The prices of raw materials such as PEIE and zinc oxide are not high, and they are rich in reserves on the earth, and their sources are stable. The components of the electrode conversion structure are very stable, not only prolonging the life of the display, but also can be used for solar energy.
